In order for older citizens to be able to live as independently as possible, the Municipality provides elderly care services. The services' aim is not to assume the responsibilities of the individual, but rather to maintain and develop the individual's abilities.
All assistance is based on the right of self-determination and autonomy. The individual's autonomy and privacy shall always be respected. Any assistance is means-tested. This means that the assistance must be assessed by a social welfare officer at the Municipality. Assistance is the term used in the Social Services Act for the various granted relief measures.
When planning assistance measures, all of the different factors that affect the individual’s situation shall be taken into account. Measures shall be holistic. The assistance assessment shall point out measures that facilitate daily life.
